After being gifted a nice keyboard in 2013, I began offering “piano meditations” to groups of friends and continued to do so in various locations around the world for the next four years. Most of the music was improvised and, although a lot of it has a similar soft and restful quality, to me, every session was quite different. I often felt as though a very specific piece of music was somehow composed for that exact moment, for those particular people, and it then found its way through my fingers. In that experience, I felt a kind of abstract communication occurring, a feeling of being in harmony with everything around me in which each note had a very precise purpose and message.
